FESTIVE lights switch-ons will be taking place across the borough in the coming weeks.

The Shaw and Crompton is today between 5 and 8pm in Market Street.

There will be Christmas markets, mulled wine and mince pies and visits from The Trolls and Santa Claus.

The lights will be turned on at 6.30pm

On the same evening, the lights in Chadderton will be switched on by the Chadderton prince and princess at 6.30pm at Chadderton town hall.

From noon until 5pm there will also be Christmas market stalls, school choirs, music and the chance to meet Father Christmas in his grotto.

Royton will follow on Saturday, with Christmas markets and a lights switch-on from 3 until 6pm in the town centre. Visit Santa in his grotto, browse the market stalls and listen to choir singing.

Greenfield will also switch on their lights that evening at 7pm from the intersection of bridleway with Chew Valley Road.

Failsworth will switch on their lights at Failsworth Pole on December 1, between 5 and 8pm.

Springhead will switch their lights on at 6pm on the same evening, at the junction of Ashbrook Road and Oldham Road.

The lights at Lees will be turned on for the first time at 4.30pm across from Legends pub, at the junction of St John Street on December 2.

Uppermill’s lights will illuminate between 4 and 4.30pm on the same afternoon.

Delph’s lights, from The Swan Pub, Kings Street and Millgate car park will also be switched on on December 2 at 5.30pm.

Grotton will become festive at 6.30pm on December 3 from the junction of Oldham Road and Grotton Hollow.

Diggle’s lights, opposite Warth Mill, will turn on in the same afternoon at 4.30pm.

Finally, Hollinwood and Lydgate will both switch their Christmas lights on at 6pm on Thursday, December 7.

Hollinwood’s will take place on Hollins Road, outside Oasis Academy.

Lydgate’s will take place at the crossroads of Oldham Road and Platting Road.
