THIS striking Rolls-Royce may be gold in colour, but you are going to need digital gold to get your hands on it.

The lavish Rolls-Royce Ghost is currently being sold on Auto Trader by private seller Ali Hasan, from Oldham, with an asking price of £117,995, payable in Bitcoins.

The stunning vehicle comes complete with 360 degree overhead camera system, active cruise control, automatic breaking, freeview television and claims to be the only Rolls-Royce on the market with a rear refrigerator and champagne flutes.

Powered by a 6.6-litre engine, the vehicle boasts eye-catching gold bodywork, an extravagant interior and features 007 within its number plate making it the perfect motor for any James Bond fans. Ali, who has had the car for 12 months, said: “It’s a really eye-catching car and I’m hoping it will appeal to someone.

“I’ve had a few calls about it, but nobody has viewed it yet.”

Ali is trading solely in Bitcoin, making it a UK first for Auto Trader and an interesting move for the online car selling business overall.

Speaking about his choice to trade in such a niche way, Ali said: “Why not trade in Bitcoin? I treat it in exactly the same way as normal currency these days. It’s safe, convenient and incredibly valuable right now so, to me, it makes sense to trade my car this way. It’s the future”.

Auto Trader editorial director, Erin Baker, said: “With the meteoric rise in popularity and value of Bitcoin in recent years, it comes as no surprise that sellers are now attempting to trade this way, it’s a huge trend and currently holds a high value.

“That said, Auto Trader won’t be releasing a ‘search by Bitcoin’ function anytime soon. Our focus is very much on our ‘search by monthly payment’ product that launches next month for car buyers.”

So what’s a Bitcoin?

BITCOIN is a digital currency that was created in 2009 by an unknown person using the alias Satoshi Nakamoto.

The worldwide payment system enables transactions to be made with no middle men.

A value is transferred between Bitcoin wallets providing a proof they have come from the owner of the wallet.

It promises lower transaction fees than traditional online payment methods.
