THE Woman of Oldham Committee presented a cheque for £5,500 to members of POINT following a year of fundraising and are now looking for a charity to support in 2018.

The charity, which provides a forum for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional needs and disabilities, who live in or access services in Oldham, was chosen as the committee's charity of the year for 2017.

The money was raised at various events including the Woman of Oldham Annual Charity Luncheon held in September at The White Hart, Lydgate, when the award of Woman of Oldham was presented to Sharon Livesey for her fund-raising triathlons, marathons and events in aid of Maggie’s Oldham Cancer Centre.

The Luncheon, which is now in its 24th year, has raised over £136,000 and the committee are now looking for a charity for 2018.

It will also coincide with the event's 25th Anniversary on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at The White Hart.

The committee selects a charity in the New Year and it is important that it is local so that funds will benefit the Oldham area.

The committee will hold several events throughout the year, including Tapas evenings, Cheese & Wine with Silent Auction, Strawberry Sparkle and would welcome people attending the events, donating raffle prizes or sponsorship from local businesses or individuals.
