AN e-fit of a man police wish to speak to in connection with a sex assault in Oldham has been released.

A 34-year-old woman was walking through Alexandra Park on Park Road, close to the boating lake, when she was approached by a man at around 8.20pm on October 24.

The man grabbed her arm and he tried to pull and drag her before attempting to sexually assault her.

The woman managed to break free of his grip and ran away towards Kings Road.

An e-fit image of a man police want to speak to in connection with the incident has been released.

Detective Constable Ian Hope of GMP’s Oldham CID, said: “I appreciate this happened some months ago but we still have an offender outstanding and I’m hoping that by releasing this image, people will be able to give us the information we need to make progress.

“Please take time to study the image and get in touch with us as soon as you can if you recognise the man or may know who he is.

“This woman was targeted but luckily managed to escape before being sexually assaulted, when she was innocently going about her life. There should be no place that people fear they are going to be attacked.

“We will do whatever we can to find those people who put others’ safety in jeopardy and investigate them fully.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 9078 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
