A man's body has been found in an alleyway in Coldhurst, Oldham.

The body was discovered near St Hilda's Drive, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

A cordon was put in place at Tilbury Street on Tuesday afternoon, when emergency services were called.

Police officers and an ambulance were called to the scene by a resident just before 3pm.

A North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) spokeswoman said: "We were called to St Hilda's Drive at 3.05pm.

"No one was taken to hospital."

An investigation is now under way to determine how the man died. The man has not yet been formally identified.

A GMP spokesman said: "Shortly before 3pm on Tuesday 13 February 2018, police were called to reports of a body on St Hilda’s Drive in Oldham.

"Officers attended and discovered the body of a man.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the circumstances surrounding his death."

Police said that the death was not being treated as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner.
