Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and a host of hungry builders enjoyed a "pizza" the action as they demolished a huge version of the Italian dish.

The Hospice team took part in giant pizza eating contest at Linda Lewis Kitchens as part of the firm's £28 for 28 Days corporate challenge.

They drafted in help from EB Roofing and Construction - who are working at the Turf Lane hospice to renovate the day services room and extend the Café K.

The eight-strong team - which included fundraising manager Angela Higham and facilities duo Paul Barnes and Carl Buckley - had to demolish four 25in pizzas fresh from the Linda Lewis ovens at their Belgrave Industrial Estate premises.

And the two meat feasts, a pepperoni and a margarita were scoff in 45 minutes flat, well ahead of the one-hour deadline.

Linda Lewis Kitchens are using their £28 from the hospice's fundraising corporate challenge to pay for ingredients and then getting willing and hungry participants to take part to help their total rise.

The ovens are set to deliver more piping hot opportunities on Fridays throughout February.

EB Roofing and Construction have also got the fundraising bug and plan to take on the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride to raise more funds for the Hospice.

If you have a team up to the challenge - or an individual who fancies their chances against a 25in pizza, call Linda Lewis Kitchen on 0161 633 5797.
