A 10-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital after she was involved in a hit and run.

The girl is understood to have broken her pelvis and has other injuries following the collision in Westwood, Oldham.

Video footage of the incident shows the girl as she begins to cross Featherstall Road North opposite Subway sandwich shop, between a lorry and an oncoming vehicle.

The video, which then shows her being struck by the red car, has been shared across social media.

Hussain Shimul, who works at Subway, said: "The child was sat down, surrounded by people. She was in shock.

"The police have been and taken CCTV footage."

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were called to the scene shortly before 4pm on Friday, February 9.

A businessman who works in Featherstall Road North said: "I was on my way back to the office from the mosque when I saw a gathering of people where someone was injured."

The girl was first taken to Royal Oldham Hospital but is understood to have been moved to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene at 4.05pm by the ambulance service.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a child and a car.

"The child is understood to be around 10 years old. She was taken to hospital.

"It is not a serious injury. She suffered a broken bone and other bumps.

"It was recorded as a driver who failed to stop after a serious collision."

A spokeswoman for the NWAS said: "We were called at 3.59pm to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"A small child, approximately 10 years old, was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital."
