CORONATION Street aficionado Mark Llewellin is serving up a treat for soap fans as well as raising cash for Dr Kershaw’s hospice.

Special Corrie-theme afternoon teas will be held at Daisy Nook Garden Centre - of which Mark is a director - which will be a fantastic opportunity for fans to find out everything they need to know about the world’s longest running TV soap and raise funds.

Following sandwiches, tea and cakes, resident expert Mark - who will be sharing some of his private and revered collection of Coronation Street props and artefacts at the Failsworth garden centre event - will give a talk on all things Weatherfield and cobbles.

Mark has been involved with Coronation Street and its cast for over 25 years and he’ll share lots of insider details and tales.

"I was working at the Coliseum Theatre, where many of the show’s stars began their careers, and I had a call from Granada TV asking whether I could give some visiting Canadian Corrie fans a tour of the theatre," said Mark.

"I did - and the next year I was asked to look after the tour for 10 days.

"That led to me being asked to go to Canada many times to talk about the show, to appearing on TV in Canada, Ireland and New Zealand – and often accompanying members of the cast.

"I will be talking about how the show began - Tony Warren, the programme’s creator, gave me many stories about his struggles getting it on air - about the cast from Doris Speed (Annie Walker) and Vi Carson (Ena Sharples) to how the show is produced today."

The themed afternoon teas take place on March 14 and 29, at 2pm.

Attendees also get a voucher for 10 per cent off purchases made at the garden centre after the talk and there will be a raffle.

Tickets, priced at £10, are on sale from Dr Kershaw’s Hospice by calling 0161-624 9984.
