YOUNGSTERS stepped back in time to experience school Victorian style in Springhead.
After a week of lessons and studies delving into the Victorian era, children and staff at Knowsley Junior School came appropriately dressed to round off their historical event.
Not only did they have to dress like Victorian children they also had to behaved like them and adhere to the strict codes of behaviour that were implemented at the time.
"I think a few of them were a little nervous to start with but once they got into it they enjoyed the day," said Year 4 teacher and history co-ordinator Stephen Potts who is heading a bid for Knowsley to achieve a Heritage Schools Award.
"We had Victorian rules in place and the children had to stand up every time an adult came into the room.
"It just gives them idea of what life was like then and they really get into it.
"Parents say their children like the dressing up because it gives them an experience they can hold on to."
The studies particularly focused on Victorian Oldham, looking at schools, children in work, buildings and industry in the area.
