A MAN was taken to hospital after being stabbed multiple times in a Royton park.

The man, understood to be 20, was taken by road ambulance to Manchester Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

He was left with multiple stab wounds after the attack in Royton Park on Sunday night (February 18).

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a police investigation is still under way.

North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene just after 7pm.

A spokeswoman for the NWAS said: "The victim was awake and breathing when we received the call.

"We had two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle on the scene."

Paramedics treated the man on the scene, and he was then transported to Manchester Royal Infirmary.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 7.10pm on Sunday, February 18, police were called to reports of an assault at Royton Park in Oldham.

"Officers attended and found a man with multiple stab wounds who was taken to hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

"An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing."
