OLDHAM new-build and refurb specialists Medlock FRB has completed has been helping hotel chain Premier Inn roll out in tourist destinations across the country in a £15m deal.

The Greengate Street firm has built new Premier Inns at Ulverston in Cumbria and on the seafronts at Rhyl and Bridlington, the first hotel to be built at the latter destination for over 80 years.

And they have two further projects under way with a 24-bedroom extension at the Stockport South Premier Inn, where it also making improvements to the lobby and reception area, and a four-storey annex at a Premier Inn at Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

The Stockport expansion is due to be completed in April and Premier Inn Hanley should be finished in the summer and will create an additional 44 bedrooms.

At Ulverston, Medlock constructed a 79-bedroom hotel making it the company’s third Premier Inn project in Cumbria, along with Penrith and Cockermouth.

The Bridlington scheme sees the first newly-built hotel open in the resort since the 1930s and has 82 bedrooms.

Medlock FRB, which is owned by its management team and employs more than 60 staff, is a fit-out, refurbishment and build contractor which specialises in the leisure and hospitality sectors. The company operates throughout the UK, carrying out projects ranging in value from £10,000 to £5m.

Alongside its purpose-built headquarters in Oldham, the company has a 20,000 sq ft bespoke facility where it manufactures joinery, metalwork and glass products for clients.

The Premier Inn chain is owned by Whitbread, which operates over 760 hotels across the UK.
