A WOMAN'S handbag was stolen from her vehicle while she was parked in Failsworth's Aldi car park.
Police said a man approached the victim's green Vauxhall Corsa and stole the woman's handbag from the passenger seat before running off.
The man was seen running off along Ash Street.
A post on GMP Failsworth and Hollinwood's Facebook page read: "We are investigating a theft from a motor vehicle which occurred between 4pm and 4.05pm on Wednesday, March 28.
"The offender is described as a white man in his mid-30s, slim build, clean shaven, with a black hood up around his face, black Nike tracksuit bottoms, black trainers, wearing black gloves and carrying a plastic bag."
Officers said that several members of the public assisted the woman after the incident.
Police want to speak with a man and woman who were walking along Ash Street at the time that the offender ran past them.
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting crime reference number 081926N/18.
