A BOY has been charged after a hammer attack at Derker Metrolink Stop left a man in hospital.
The 15-year-old, from Oldham, was charged by police with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been bailed to appear at Tameside Youth Court on May 1.
The incident occurred at 7.30pm on March 22, when police responded to reports that a man in his 40s had been attacked by a group of people at the Cromford Street tram stop.
He had been taken to hospital with injuries including a fractured skull and a badly severed ear but is now in a stable condition at home.
A 16-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains on bail pending further enquiries until 14 May 2018.
