OLDHAM’S business glitterati come together in their best bib and tucker tomorrow night to salute the town’s major achievers for the 10th year in succession.

The event at Queen Elizabeth Hall is the Oldham Business Awards, of which the The Oldham Times is a proud media sponsor.

Local companies are competing for awards across 11 categories with companies ranging in size from under £1m revenue to firms with turnover in excess of £10m run by the town’s most entrepreneurial people.

Sponsors of the various categories include professional services giant KPMG, the Business Growth Hub, Asian Business Leaders, Seftons Accountants, Reward Finance, Oldham Athletic Football Club, Oldham Enterprise Trust, Oldham College, Ultimate Products, Unity Partnership.

The sell-out night, hosted by TV’s Rory Bremner, is one where high-achieving companies get well-deserved recognition, but there will also be a nod to firms in the Community Engagement category.

Young starlets of the business community will also get a look in, in the Young Entrepreneur section and companies will be rewarded in the Supporting Young People category.

Martyn Torr, director of events company New Image, which runs the awards, said: “Here we are 10 years on and the Oldham Business Awards has become THE event for industrious Oldham.

“The support that the organisers have enjoyed has made the premiere business event in Greater Manchester and long may this continue.

“Oldham is a great place to do business as these awards show year on year.”
