FIREFIGHTERS were called to a flat in Chadderton last night to deal with a blaze which started as a result of food left on a cooker last night (Wednesday, May 16).
The fire was limited to the food, but a man in his mid 40s was taken to hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The crew from Hollins station attended the incident after the smoke alarm at the property in a two-storey building in Old Lane after neighbours saw smoke billowing out of a window.
In a separate incident crews from Oldham and Chadderton went to the Premier Castings foundry in Green Street, Oldham to deal with a blaze started in racking inside the main building. The fire was restricted to a box. The cause is believed to accidental.
