THE cause of a fire which destroyed a VW campervan and spread to the roof of a house is under investigation.
Oldham firefighters went into action to prevent the blaze which engulfed the vehicle causing further damage.
The family of seven were asleep in their semi-detached dorma bungalow in Brighton Road at 1.55am on Friday (May 18) when they were awoken by a smoke alarm.
They escaped the property unhurt before the crews arrived. They used two breathing apparatus, two hose reels and pressure ventilator to deal with the blaze. They were on the scene for two hours.
The VW Transporter campervan was a write-off.
