THE cast for Oldham Coliseum’s production of A Taste of Honey has visited Salford Lads’ and Girls’ Club – where part of the iconic kitchen sink drama was filmed.
The actors were treated to a tour from the club’s project manager Leslie Holmes.
They were told about the history of the club and Salford around the 1950s and 1960s.
A Taste of Honey was written 60 years ago by Shelagh Delaney when she was still a teenager.
It became an instant success, opening at Theatre Royal Stratford East and transferring to the West End the following year.
Salford Lads’ Club was the location for the dock scenes of the film adaptation of A Taste of Honey, starring Rita Tushingham and Dora Bryan, which was released in 1961.
A Taste of Honey runs at Oldham Coliseum from Friday, May 25 to Saturday, June 9.
