AN elderly woman has suffered serious injuries following a collision in Ashton.

Police were called to the junction of Oldham Road and Cranbourne Road on at 2pm on Monday (May 21) after the 86-year-old woman knocked down by a blue Ford Transit van.

Shortly after 2pm on Monday 21 May 2018, police were called to reports of a collision between a blue Ford Transit Van and an elderly woman on the junction of Oldham Road and Cranbourne Road.

She was taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.

It is believed that the Transit van was turning onto Oldham Road from Cranbourne Road when the collision happened. Oldham Road was closed following the collision but has since reopened.

Police Conste Peter Cunningham, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are doing all we can to support the woman and her family following this collision.

“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident remain ongoing, and I would urge any witnesses to the collision, or the events leading up to it, to please get in touch.”

“We are specifically interested in reviewing dashcam footage of the collision, so if your vehicle is fitted with it or you have other information, no matter how small or insignificant it might seem, then please call us as soon as possible.”
