A MIDDLE-AGED man escaped his smoke-filled flat in Hollins in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from Hollins station were called to the nearby address at Collier Hill after a pan of food had been left on the cooker and the man had fallen asleep.
But he was awoken by the smoke alarm and got out of the flat unhurt.
