SOME 17 teams got into the swing of raising cash form Mahdlo’s Egerton Street Youth Zone.

This year’s golf day raised £3,900 for the cause. Organised by Rob Norbury and his team at Muse, Uppermill, the event saw teams from Medlock FRB, Pearson Legal, Grandpa Greene’s Ice Cream and Hare and Hounds drive, chip and putt their way round the course.

The overall winner was drinks wholesaler Wild of Oldham, captained by Andrew Wild, who said: “It’s been a fantastic day”.

He went on “We are proud sponsors of Mahdlo and it’s a pleasure to be involved with their events. As a company it’s really important to invest in the youth of the town and I encourage others to get involved.”

After the day’s golf, teams enjoyed an evening at Muse and enjoyed a buffet sampling Muse’s signature dishes created by new head chef.

Rob Norbury, owner at Muse, said: The whole team at Muse have enjoyed working with Mahdlo to organise the event. Mahdlo is a great charity and to be able to see where the money raised is being used brings it closer to home. I’m looking forward to getting started on next year’s event. “

Lucy Lees, deputy chief executive at Mahdlo added: “The money raised this year will be used to help fund our Get Sorted programme which includes mentoring, brew club and counselling.

“For many of our members these programmes provide a lifeline and additional support when they need us most.

“We can’t thank Rob and his team at Muse, and everyone who entered a team enough for their generosity and support. I hope to see them all again next year for another fantastic day out.”
