TWO Oldham charities are thousands of pounds better off thanks to a record-breaking 10th anniversary Oldham Business Awards.

Mahdlo and Dr Kershaw's Hospice will benefit to the tune of £2,500 each following 2018's staggeringly successful glittering celebration of some the best of the borough's businesses which were honoured at a grand event at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in May.

Mahdlo representatives will be presented with a cheque at the annual Patron's Dinner on September 18.

Dr Kershaw's Hospice will receive their £2,500 at the Oldham Corporate Quiz, at The White Hart, Lydgate, on November 15.

The award's steering group decided on the donations for their chosen charities at it's latest meeting as preparations began for the 11th celebration of Oldham's buoyant business community with the 2019 gala dinner being scheduled for Friday, April 26, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Steve Kilroy chair of the OBA Steering Group, said: "This year's celebration dinner was by far the most successful ever with more than 550 people enjoying a fantastic evening hosted by impressionist Rory Bremner.

"We are delighted that, thanks to the generosity of our loyal supporters and people supporting the raffle on the night, we can hand over much needed funds to these two wonderful Oldham organisations.

"We are proud to support Mahdlo and Dr Kershaw's Hospice and we hope to continue for many more years yet."
