A CULTURAL adventure around the streets of Oldham to remember loved ones and make a stride in the fight against cancer is set to give special behind-the-scenes glimpses of some fascinating gems.

Maggie's Oldham has revealed the venues for their second 10K Culture Crawl, on September 28, when over 100 people will walk together in fundraising solidarity for the cancer support centre.

The evening event gives an after-hours opportunity to explore stunning architecture and history and this year's list includes George Street Chapel, Indian Association Oldham Shree Radha-Krishna Temple in Schofield Street and St Mary's with St Patrick's RC Church, in Union Street West.

Along the way there will be live entertainment, tasty treats to try, an insight into each venue, a foodie stop-off at the Blue Tiffin Restaurant, in Royton, and a wonderful finale.

The throng will also receive a warm welcome at Maggies Oldham which opened in 2017 and has been offering invaluable, free practical and emotional support to people with cancer and their family and friends ever since.

Last year's first ever Culture Crawl took in a sunset tour of Alexander Park, Oldham Central Mosque and a musical celebration at The Lyceum.

Laura Tomlinson, fundraising manager from Maggie’s Oldham, said: “It’s not too late to join us for Culture Crawl. We’re really excited about what we’ve got lined up for our walkers this year. We’re going back to some favourite stops from last year's crawl and we’ve added in some exciting new venues too!

"You can look forward to lots of live entertainment and out-of-hours access to interesting venues and buildings in your town. There will be plenty of tasting food and drinks to keep you going along the 10k route and a fun end of walk celebration.

"We’d love you to join us for this really special evening where we’ll walk together to help people with cancer.”

Registration for the event, which starts at 6pm, is £20 and participants are asked to try to raise sponsorship for Maggie’s Oldham.

All Maggie’s Culture Crawl walkers will get a free t-shirt and a medal.
