A service to mark 40 years since the Falklands War has been planned in Oldham.

The event is planned to be held in Oldham Parish Church on Sunday, June 12, at 2pm.

The service is to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the islands, when the Argentine military occupation of the Islands ended on Tuesday, June 14 1982.

The war between the UK and Argentina lasted 74 days, and saw 255 British military personnel, three islanders, and 649 Argentine soldiers die, with many more wounded.

Military decorations and standards are welcomed, and the event invitation is open to all serving and ex-serving military personnel, as well as their families.
