An Oldham school is set to reopen following two days of closure due to issues with its water supply.

The issue at  Saddleworth School was separate to another water outage in Oldham affecting parts of Lees, which forced the closure of St Thomas Leesfield C of E Primary School.

Saddleworth School had turned to remote learning on Monday and Tuesday due to the outage, which also forced it to cancel the school’s career fair, which was due to take place from 4pm to 6.30pm on Monday.

A statement posted this afternoon by headteacher Mike Anderson says: “We are delighted to say that after further work today the engineers have been able to repair and restore the water supply to school.

“School will therefore be open as normal from tomorrow, Thursday 12th October.

“Thank you to parents/carers for their support and understanding over the unexpected closure of school.

“We understand the inconvenience this will have caused families and apologise again for the disruption this may have caused.

“We look forward to welcoming students back to school tomorrow and getting back to business as usual.”
