The man is currently in police custody for questioning.

The arrest comes as GMP's Tactical Vehicle Interup Unit are on the lookout for dangerous driving and criminality over the bank holiday weekend.

Officers from the unit were attending to several jobs which included the search for a missing woman and hunting down cloned vehicles when the man was spotted.

Inspector Danny Kabal of GMP’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit, said: “Our drivers are out day and night protecting the people of Greater Manchester from dangerous drivers and criminality.

“Unfortunately one of our officers was injured during the incident, highlighting the dangers both officers and colleagues across emergency services often face when they are on duty protecting our communities from harm.

“We will continue to be out across the bank holiday, doing what we do best, reducing crime and keeping people safe.”
