Bury Football Club has condemned the behaviour of 'some' of its fans again after a viral video suggests several supporters were involved in a fight.

Bury FC missed out on promotion after a gruesome penalty shoot-out defeat against Wythenshawe Town in the play-off final yesterday, (Saturday, May 4).

The two sides met at Wythenshawe's home ground, Ericstan Park, with the winners of the match achieving promotion.

The clash was held there due to the hosts' higher league position standing of second - compared to Bury's third spot - giving them priority.

Though a disappointing defeat for Bury fans, tensions were already high between the two towns as a spat broke out over tickets just days before the crucial showdown.

Now, a video that has gone viral on social media seems to show Bury fans fighting at the side of the pitch.

The footage shows at least four men fighting while several others watched on or were shouting.

In one violent outburst, a man was seemingly punching and kicking another who was on the floor.

The man throwing the kick then falls over.

At the same time, another pair could be seen throwing punches at one another until one was pushed to the floor.

Distressed onlookers could be heard pleading with the men to stop the fight.

One woman could be heard in the video saying: "Stop it now.

"There are kids about."

Bury FC released a club statement today (Sunday, May 5) and said such "poor behaviour" has already led to strict punishments for fans in the season - and for the club.

In January this year, two Bury fans received a ban from Gigg Lane after being caught using "discriminatory" and "offensive" language.

Meanwhile, Bury FC was slapped with a tough penalty of its own, including a £350 fine and a two-match full stadium closure from the Manchester FA.

Today's statement from the club reads: "Bury Football Club wishes to condemn some of the supporter behaviour at our Play-Off Final at Ericstan Park on Saturday afternoon.

"We are a community club, and some of the scenes experienced in both the stands and again unfortunately on the pitch, are not acceptable.

"It cannot be stressed enough that any poor behaviour reflects on the club in a negative way and has led to severe punishment already during the season.

"We are handing over the investigation of these matters to Greater Manchester Police and will liaise with the FA on these matters in due course."
