SQUAD NO: 1. KYRAN JOHNSON (full-back): Johnson, 23, has played 33 senior games for Featherstone Rovers and eight for Hunslet on loan. In his first season at Oldham.

2. DAVE ECCLESTON (wing): Born in St Helens, Eccleston, 21, was a regular in the Saints academy side in 2016. Another new signing.

3. MATT REID (centre): A PE teacher in Warrington, Matt, 25, was an ever-present captain for Coventry Bears in 2017.

4. JACK HOLMES (centre): Another ‘new’ signing for 2018, but a player already well known to Roughyeds fans because the 24-year-old was a key member of the 2015 promotion squad before joining Rochdale Hornets.

5. STEVEN NIELD (utility back): An Oldham player for seven years, the 27-year-old was out for nearly two years following knee reconstruction. Clubman of the year in 2015.

6. PAUL CROOK (stand-off): Crooky, 31, racked up 1,499 points in seven years at Rochdale to smash a club record that had remained intact since 1934. Played a massive role in taking Whitehaven to the League 1 promotion final in 2017. The old-head in a young Roughyeds back division.

7. DAVE HEWITT (scrum-half): Initially joined Oldham on loan from St Helens, then went to Sheffield Eagles before returning to Roughyeds. The 22-year-old has a good kicking game with an impressive left foot.

8. PHIL JOY (prop): By the end of the 2017 season, Joy, 26, had amassed 116 senior appearances, but dislocated his left shoulder in the third game of 2017.

9. GARETH OWEN (hooker): Club captain in 2017 and accepted an invitation to keep the job in 2018. Played more than 30 Super League games with Salford before joining home-town Oldham. Owen, 25, went to Sheffield on loan, then came back to Roughyeds.

10. ADAM NEAL (prop): Performing a joint role as player and conditioner, Adam, 27, set the lead when he became the first player to re-sign for 2018.

11. CRAIG BRISCOE (second-row): Briscoe, 25, signed from Barrow to bolster the pack ahead of the 2016 Championship season. Smashed a knee pre-season and played seven games that year before the knee let him down again. Now fully fit.

12. DANNY LANGTREE (second-row): Stalwart of the pack for the past five years, St Helens boy ‘Langers’, 26, is hard running, hard tackling and mentally tough.

13. JACK SPENCER (prop or loose): Jack, 27, was quick to sign up for a third season at Oldham, highlighting “unfinished business” as one of his motivations to stay put.

18. BEN DAVIES (prop): This hugely experienced front-row man, 28, joined Oldham from Whitehaven ahead of the 2017 season.

19. ADAM JONES (back-row): Hard-tackling Jones, 24, rose through the ranks at Salford. With Swinton Lions before joining Roughyeds.

20. MATTY WILKINSON (hooker): Lively from dummy half, Matty, 21, passed through the Salford Red Devils youth system before going out on loan to North Wales Crusaders in 2016 and to Halifax on dual-reg in the early part of 2017.

21. KENNY HUGHES (hooker): Another Oldham stalwart after joining from St Helens academy seven years ago. The 27-year-old has played 123 senior games for Roughyeds.

22. DANNY RASOOL (utility back): Danny, 22, played for Roughyeds reserves and has since played age-group and reserves’ rugby at Salford and Warrington respectively.

23. LUKE NELMES (prop): Luke, 24, was the first new signing for 2018, having come to the end of a two-year stay at Halifax. A big, strong prop.

24. LIAM BENT (back-row): Hard-grafting Liam, 20, played 17 games for Roughyeds on loan from Salford in 2017. When released by the Red Devils, Oldham moved quickly to sign him permanently.

25. DANNY BRIDGE (back-row): Oldham-born Danny, 25, has had spells with Wigan, Warrington, Bradford and Rochdale then two seasons in the Queensland Cup with Redcliffe Dolphins.
