LATICS dangerman Duckens Nazon has spoken of his delight after winning the EFL Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award for February.

The striker’s stunning opener at Blackburn edged out team-mate Cameron Dummigan’s piledriver against Bradford along with Alex Rodman’s goal for Shrewsbury against Charlton in the three-man shortlist.

Nazon, 23, explained how he weaved past two defenders at Ewood Park – nutmegging one in the process – before calmly slotting into the corner to record his first goal in a Latics shirt. His second followed soon after.

He said: “Johny Placide kicked the ball long, I had a defender on my back, went past him, then he came back, so I went back inside, then outside with a little skill, gave him ‘megs, then scored!

“I wasn’t really thinking anything at the time as I am comfortable going one-on-one with defenders.

“I’m very happy and proud to win this award but the team is the most important thing. We have a good group and there is a lot of togetherness.”

The French-born Haiti international, on loan from Championship leaders Wolves until the end of the season, admitted he doesn’t yet know where his future lies.

“I don’t know if Wolves will call me back or send me out on loan again next season,” he added.

“I’ll just have to wait and see what happens, try my best here and give 100 per cent for Oldham.”

Yet to appear for Wolves since joining last year after a stint in the Indian Super League, Nazon spent the first half of the season playing in League Two with Coventry.

And the Parisian hasn’t found it difficult adapting to life at the next level.

“It’s very similar except I think League One is a bit quicker. Apart from that, maybe it’s more physical but there aren’t too many differences.”

“The Duck” – a nickname coined by Coventry fans (it’s Le Prince in France and Haiti) – scored for the Ricoh Arena club at Blackburn in the cup earlier in the campaign.

He said: “I think Blackburn are sick of the sight of me now. If they go up to the Championship though, they can give me a call!”
