OLDHAM have confirmed that utility back Joe Martin has played his last game for Roughyeds and has left the club.

Said club chairman Chris Hamilton: "Having received an offer to play in Australia, he asked to be released from his contract.

"It came completely out of the blue, given that it hadn't been long since he was given a professional contract by the club.

"Naturally, we were not happy about the situation. However, the player clearly wanted to go and said it was an opportunity he was keen to take so reluctantly we have had to agree to release him from his contract."

In the seven weeks that he was an Oldham professional he made two appearances and scored two tries.

Meanwhile, Oldham are keen to make it clear that their forthcoming Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth-round tie against Hull KR at Bower Fold, Stalybridge on Sunday, April 22 (3pm), is NOT all-ticket.

Cash turnstiles will be open on the day, but by selling tickets in advance the club hopes to ease a lot of turnstile congestion and speed up the flow of fans into the ground.

+ TIME of kick-off in the Hunslet versus Oldham game at the South Leeds Stadium on Sunday, June 24, has been put back from 3pm to 3.30pm to avoid clashing with the England football team's World Cup game that day.
