OLDHAM made it three Betfred League 1 wins in a row with a hard-fought 28-12 triumph against a gutsy Newcastle Thunder outfit at the Vestacare Stadium.

In bright sunshine and soaring temperatures, Oldham led 16-0 at half-time with a thoroughly professional performance, but there were second-half lapses which allowed the men from the North-East to score a couple of converted tries.

Kieran Gill, Danny Bridge, Dave Eccleston, Phil Joy and Craig Briscoe scored Oldham's tries, while Paul Crook landed four goals.

Prop Joy, whose try early in the second half gave Roughyeds a 22-0 lead, was named Oldham's man of the match, while the Champagne Moment award went to Craig Briscoe for his try 11 minutes from the end.
