FRANKIE Bunn looks set to ring the changes for tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy group stage clash with League One Barnsley (7.30pm).

The Latics boss is already without the in-form duo of goalkeeper Daniel Iversen and wideman Gevaro Nepomuceno with the pair on international duty.

Nepomuceno, who has scored two goals in as many games following the Crawley victory on Saturday, was named in the Curacao squad. Iversen has been called up to the Danish under-21 set-up. Both will also miss the League Two encounter with Newport at Boundary Park in four days’ time.

Zeus De La Paz is set to deputise in goal with Aston Villa loanee Jordan Lyden available in midfield after the Australian, 22, secured a move until January.

The likes of Jonathan Benteke, Mohamed Moauche, Callum Lang and Tom Hamer – who haven’t had much game time of late – could be given the nod.

Bunn said: “It’s a competition we want to do well in. We’ve got a bit of momentum in the league now which we want to continue.

“We’ve got a fairly healthy squad and it’s a team selection we’ll ponder. It’s maybe a chance for some of the fringe players to come in but it’s not a competition we’re going to take lightly and we’ll be putting a team out to win the game.

“We want to do well in every game we play in and tonight will be no different.”

Barnsley – unbeaten in League One so far under the tutelage of German duo Daniel Stendel and Andreas Winkler – are expected to make wholesale changes.

Bunn added: “Having worked with David Wagner at Huddersfield, I think they work in a similar fashion. Whoever they put out on the pitch, I expect them to be a footballing team who try to play out from the back.”
