HE may only be 20-years-old – and “Viva Forever” by The Spice Girls was number one when Sam Surridge was born – but League Two’s goalscoring charts are the only ones the on-loan Bournemouth striker is interested in topping at the end of the season.

The forward is certainly proving to be a bit of a “Scary Spice” for opposition defenders. It’s five in five for the red-hot renegade.

Not that the likeable Slough-raised hitman is setting any targets following his double at Grimsby . . . well, maybe a little as he told The Oldham Times what he really, REALLY wants.

He said: “I want to end up at the top of the league’s goal list.”

Not many would back against the wannabe hit maker, not in this kind of form.

“There’s not really a set target but I want to just keep on getting on the scoresheet,” he added.

“The main thing is to keep winning and if we’re winning, I’m scoring . . . so it’s happy days.”

Man-of-the-match Surridge admitted it wasn’t Latics’ best performance despite the emphatic 3-0 scoreline at Blundell Park, but was always confident of victory in front of another terrific away following.

“Even when we’re not playing great, we know if we keep grinding out chances the goals will come,” he added.

“I’m really enjoying my time here and I feel having a former striker in Frankie Bunn as the gaffer is helping me along.”

This was the Premier League man’s first Latics appearance away from home after missing out through injury at Forest Green, Yeovil and Morecambe.

He said: “I’d heard from the lads how good the away support is and to see it first-hand was something else as I haven’t sampled it before.

“When we walked out of the tunnel, to witness how many were there was amazing. It was brilliant to see.”

Now the frontman just wants to stay focused on finding the net amid fierce competition for places.

“I wanted to get a goal or two to keep my place because the squad is so strong,” he beamed.

“Callum Lang, Chris O’Grady, Ishmael Miller, Jonathan Benteke . . . even Jose Baxter can play there, but that’s a good thing.

“And we feel we can keep it going.”

Viva forever, indeed.
