Sai Sachdev returned to parent club Sheffield United after his loan spell with Oldham Athletic was cut short.

The youngster, who plays at right back or right wing back, arrived at Boundary Park in mid-January on a loan deal until the end of the season.

He made an immediate debut, starting in the 2-0 home win over Barnet, but has featured only four times since.

After signing the teenager in the new year, Latics boss Micky Mellon said: “Sai fits the profile of what we’re looking for in an out-and-out wing-back," said the Oldham boss.

“He’s young, energetic and ambitious, those are qualities we want to bring to the football club."

Sachdev was named the sponsors' man of the match in the goalless draw at home to Bromley in early March, but that proved to be his last game for Latics.

After the 1-0 defeat at Altrincham on Easter Monday, in which manager Mellon made four changes to the line-up following a Good Friday defeat at home to Fylde, in which Harrison McGahey played at right back, the Latics boss said: "Most of them (the changes) were forced upon us. We've still got that problem we don't really have a right back."

Sachdev started for Sheffield United Under 21s in their 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Earlier this season former Portsmouth right back Keiron Freeman, who was on a short-term six-month deal, left the club after 10 appearances.
