THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND KESWICK BYPASS) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Eden, in the County of Cumbria, to enable renewal of road markings and other maintenance, to be carried out in safety. The Order will:

a) impose speed limits on the following sections of the A66 Trunk Road:



i. a 40 mph speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, from



a point 820 metres east of the A5091 Junction, to a point 4,089 metres west oftheA5091 Junction;

ii. a 10 mph speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, from



a point 388 metres east of the A5091 Junction, to a point 3,686 metres west oftheA5091 Junction;

iii. a 40 mph speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, from a point 1,491 metres west of the Brundholme Road Bridge, to a point 1,889 metres east of the Brundholme Road Bridge;



iv. a 10 mph speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, from a point 489 metres west of Brundholme Road Bridge, to a point 1,488 metres east of the Brundholme Road Bridge;



v. a 40 mph speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, from



a point 1,689 metres east of the Thornthwaite Junction, to a point 524 metres east of the High Hill Junction;

vi. a 10 mph speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways, from



a point 2,071 metres east of the Thornthwaite Junction, to a point 127 metres east of the High Hill Junction;

vii. a 40 mph speed limit on the eastbound exit and entry slip roads, to and from Keswick;



viii. a 10 mph speed limit on the eastbound exit and entry slip roads, to and from Keswick;



ix. a 40 mph speed limit on the westbound exit and entry slip roads, to and from Keswick;



x. a 10 mph speed limit on the westbound exit and entry slip roads, to and from Keswick.



The 10 mph speed limit will apply for safety reasons through the works area when traffic will be escorted by a highway maintenance vehicle.

b) ban all traffic from the following A66 Slip Roads:



i. the eastbound exit and entry slip roads, to and from Keswick;



ii. the westbound exit and entry slip roads, to and from Keswick.



c) ban all traffic from the following laybys adjacent to the A66 Trunk Road:



i. the eastbound layby, located 3,903 metres west of the A5091 Junction;



ii. the westbound layby, located 3,415 metres west of the A5091 Junction;



iii. the eastbound layby, located 2,421 metres west of the A5091 Junction;



iv. the westbound layby, located 570 metres west of the A5091 Junction;



v. the eastbound layby, located 1,402 metres west of the Brundholme Road Bridge;



vi. the eastbound layby, located 2,147 metres east of the Thornthwaite Junction;



vii. the westbound layby, located 2,876 metres east of the Thornthwaite Junction.



The works are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 6 December 2021 and ending on Wednesday 12 January 2022. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A66 Trunk Road and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles. The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 5 December 2021 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information
