THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 22-23 NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS AND SLIP ROADS) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M6 Motorway in the Boroughs of Warrington, Wigan and St Helens in the Counties of Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside to enable renewal of steel vehicle restraints and other general maintenance works to be earned out in safety, (a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed

restriction on the following sections of the

M6 Motorway:

i. the northbound carriageway from a point 240 metres north of the centreline of Parkside Road overbridge, to a point 627 metres north of the centreline of Rob Lane underbridge;



ii. the southbound carriageway from a point 33 metres north of the centreline of King Coppice underbridge, to a point 80 metres south of the centreline of Lowton Railway underbridge;



iii. the southbound entry slip road at junction 23;



iv. the northbound entry and exit slip road leading to and from Rob Lane RCC;



v. the southbound entry and exit slip road leading to and from Rob Lane RCC.



b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 Motorway:



i. the northbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 22 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 23 entry slip road joins the carriageway;



ii. the southbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 23 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 22 entry slip road joins the carriageway;



iii. the northbound exit and entry slip roads as described at (a) iv above;



iv. the southbound exit and entry slip roads as described at (a) v above;



v. the northbound entry slip road at junction 22;



vi. the southbound exit slip road at junction 22;



vii. the southbound entry slip road as described at (a) iii above;



viii.the northbound exit slip road at junction 23.

c) The Order will allow the hardshoulder to be used as running lanes on the following sections of the M6 Motorway.



i. the northbound carriageway from a point 60 metres north of the centre point at Parkside Road overbridge, to a point 490 metres north of the centreline of Rob Lane underbridge;



ii. the southbound carriageway from a point 536 metres north of the centreline of Rob Lane Underbridge, to a point 240 metres north of the centreline of Parkside Road Overbridge.



A 50 miles per hour speed restriction will be imposed on all traffic using the hardshoulder. Prohibitions (b) are expected to be in place overnight between 2200 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Friday 3 February 2017 and ending on Sunday 7 April 2017. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Restrictions (a) and (c) are expected to take place during a continuous period starting at 0500 hours on Saturday 4 February 2017 and ending at 2200 hours on Thursday 6 April 2017. However, work may start and continue at the same times beyond these dates until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6 and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
