[JUNCTIONS 18-19 SIMISTER ISLAND & SLIP & LINK ROADS) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M60, M66 and M62 Motorways in the Borough of Bury, in the County of Greater Manchester to enable resurfacing, renewal of road markings, road studs, traffic detector loops, high friction surfacing and bridge joints, crack repairs, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety, (a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the M66, M60, and M62 Motorways: i. the M66 southbound carriageway, from a point 315 metres south of the centreline of Castle Road Overbridge, to the first point where the M60 clockwise junction 18 entry slip road joins the carriageway; ii the M60 clockwise carriageway, from the first point where the M60 junction 18 entry slip road joins the carriageway, to a point 80 metres south of the centreline of Middleton Road East Overbridge at junction 19;
iii. the M60 clockwise entry slip road at junction 18;

iv. the M62 westbound carriageway to the M60 clockwise designated link road at the M60/M62 junction 18.

(b)The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M60, M62 and M66 Motorway:
i. the M60 clockwise carriageway, from the first point where the M60 clockwise junction 18 entry slip road joins the carriageway, to the centreline of Middleton Road West Overbridge (junction 19);

ii. the M66 southbound carriageway, from the centreline of Simister North Overbridge, to the first point where the M60 clockwise junction 18 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iii. the M60 clockwise entry and exit slip roads at junction 18;

iv. the M60 anticlockwise entry and exit slips at junction 18;

v. the M62 eastbound entry slip road at junction 18;

vi. the M62 westbound exit slip road at junction 18;

vii. the M66 northbound entry slip road at junction 4;

viii. the M66 southbound exit slip road at junction 4;

ix. the M60 clockwise to M66 northbound designated link road;

x. the M66 southbound to the M62 eastbound designated link road;

xi. the M62 westbound to M60 clockwise designated link road at the M60/M62 junction 18;

xii. the M60 anticlockwise to M60 anticlockwise designated link road;

xiii. the M60/M62 junction 18 roundabout, from the last point where the M66 junction 4 northbound entry slip road leaves the roundabout, to the first point where the M62 westbound exit slip road joins the roundabout (north-eastern section);

xiv. the M60/M62 junction 18 roundabout, from the last point where the M62 eastbound entry slip road leaves the roundabout, to the first point where the M60 anti clockwise exit road joins the roundabout (south-eastern section);

xv. the M60/M62 junction 18 roundabout, from the last point where the M60 clockwise entry slip road leaves the roundabout, to the first point where the M60 clockwise exit slip road joins the roundabout (south-western section);

xvi. the M60/M62 junction 18 roundabout, from the last point where the M60 anti-clockwise entry slip road leaves the roundabout, to the first point where the M66 junction 4 southbound exit slip road joins the roundabout (north-western section);

xvii.the M60 clockwise carriageway, from the last point where the exit slip road at junction 19 leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the entry slip road at junction 19 joins the carriageway, (c) The Order will allow the hardshoulder to be used as running lanes on
the M60 clockwise and M66 carriageways as described in (b) i and (b)
ii above. A 50 miles per hour speed restriction will be imposed on all
traffic using the hardshoulder. The works are expected to take place overnight between 2100 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 13 July 2017 and ending on Friday 25 August 2017. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M60, M66 and M62 Motorways will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
