A MACHINE was completely destroyed after a fire at an Oldham skip hire firm.
One of Holroyd Waste Disposal's compacting machines was on fire in the yard at the company's Glodwick base last night (March 6).
The machine is used to reduce the size of material or bio mass through compaction.
Emergency services were called to the incident at Holroyd Skip Hire, in Hamilton Street, at 6.30pm.
The firm is checking its CCTV to determine the cause of the fire.
Oldham Central watch manager Benjamin MacDermott said: "The machine was completely destroyed.
"Some of the materials they were working with were burned."
Crews from Oldham and Philips Park Community fire station attended.
