A MAN arrested in connection with an attack outside Harry's Bar, in Yorkshire Street, on Sunday evening has been released on bail.
A man in his 50s remains critically injured following the incident, in which he is understood to have hit his head on the pavement, at around 6.40pm.
A 52-year-old man was questioned by police on suspicion of assault and later released on bail.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said officers were called following reports of an assault and found the victim had fallen to the floor outside the bar.
He is being treated in hospital for his "critical injuries" said the spokeswoman.
A forensics tent was erected and a police cordon was put in place as investigations were carried out yesterday.
GMP say enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.
