ST BARNABAS Church in Clarksfield and Holy Trinity Church in Waterhood have a new deacon, Jane Hyde, following her ordination on Sunday.
Jane was one of 23 new recruits who were ordained by the Bishop of Manchester at Manchester Cathedral on Sunday.
She will be working with the Rev Paul Monk who is the vicar of both churches.
A £1 million renovation over many years has recently been completed at Waterhead Church and St Barnabas Church runs the award-winning Barnabas Community Project from its buildings on Arundel Street.
Jane, who is married and comes from Middleton, said: “I can't wait to get to know the area and the wonderful people of Oldham. I'm excited to be a part of the way the Church is helping improve the lives of real people.”
