ARMED police were called to an area outside a school in Bolton after reports of a man with a gun.
Officers received reports that a man was carrying a firearm on Weston Street, close to Bolton Islamic Girls School.
The man had left the scene before police arrived and no arrests have been made.
Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident but police are continuing to search the area.
Resident also reported seeing a police helicopter circling above the street.
In a statement, police said: "Shortly after 5.15pm police received a report of a man in possession of a firearm on Weston Street.
"Officers attended and conducted a search of the area. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the man.
"No persons have been injured."
