A COLLISION on the mini roundabout at the junction of Copster Hill Road and Hollins Road caused lengthy rush hour queues this afternoon (Tuesday).

A fire crew from Hollins Station used lifting equipment to remove a Vauxhall Astra which was badly damaged following a collision with a Nissan Micra at 4.45pm.

The female driver of the Vauxhall and her son suffered minor injuries.

The incident brought traffic to a standstill with queues stretching all the way along Hollins Road to the M60 and in the opposite direction on to Ashton Road, said Hollins Fire Station Green Watch Manager Andrew Turner.

Fire service personnel along with police spent around an hour clearing the road and directing traffic.
