DR Kershaw's Hospice has issued a warning after reports bogus cold callers attempted to con people into handing over donations for the charity.
A spokeswoman for the hospice said they have been alerted to a number of incidents whereby people have knocked on doors over the weekend asking for cash under the pretence of being from Dr Kershaw's.
They said they are particularly concerned about their more vulnerable and elderly supporters being conned out of cash in this way.
The spokeswoman added: "We can assure you that this is not our practice to cold call for cash donations. The only people who would call are our Hospice Lottery canvassers. They would have photo ID and would never ask for cash donations."
