THE following events are taking place in the Oldham area soon: NOVEMBER 1: Public consultation event at Holy Trinity Church, in Godson Street, from 10am to 3pm. Opportunity to learn more about local services and what's available in the area. A free lunch is available for all who attend. NOVEMBER 3: Saddleworth Churches Together, Sacred Heart Centre, High Street, Uppermill, One World Christmas Fair, 10am to 4pm. Fairly traded crafts, gifts, jewellery, foods, cards, books from Traidcraft, Oxfam and more. Homemade refreshments served all day. Proceeds to CAFOD and Christian Aid. NOVEMBER 3: Coffe Shop, Dobcross Band Club, 10am to 12noon. Proceeds in aid of British Heart Foundation.

NOVEMBER 6: Luncheon club with Age UK, at Holy Trinity Church, Godson Street, 11am – 2pm, every Tuesday. First meal is free. Club is looking for volunteers to help with befriending, serving refreshments, setting up, clearing away, transport to and from the church and entertainment.

NOVEMBER 10: St Matthew’s Church, Mill Brow, Chadderton, 6pm. WW1 1918 Armistice Commemoration. All welcome. Tickets £5 for 16-year-olds and over, free for under 16s. NOVEMBER 10: Trinity Methodist Church, Royton. Concert by group of singers called Voice, also featuring Just Zoe and Rhia Thomas. Starts 2pm. Proceeds in aid of BBC Children In Need. Tickets from Trinity Thursday Shoppers Coffee, 9am to noon or call 0161 624 6249, priced £5 for adults and £3 for under 13s (accompanied), including refreshments. NOVEMBER 10: Oldham Parish Church, Coffee Morning, 9am to 1pm. Various stalls including bric-a-brac and book stalls. Tours of the crypt on the half hour. NOVEMBER 13: Fashion Show, Uppermill Civic Hall, 7pm, presented by "Decisions" of Ashton in aid of Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman's Charity. NOVEMBER 13: Saddleworth Floral Art presents a floral demonstration by Diane Fair of Chester, 7.30pm at Friezland Church Hall, Greenfield supporting the Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman’s charity, entitled Christmas is Coming. Tickets £10 including mulled wine and mince pies. NOVEMBER 13: Christmas Floral Demonstration at Hope Congregation Church, Skipton Street, Abbeyhills Road, Oldham, 2pm. Demonstration by Kathleen Williams in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind. Admission £2. NOVEMBER 15: Saddleworth Museum, High Street, Uppermill, 7.30pm, Saddleworth Civic Trust has its annual meeting followed by an ordinary meeting with an Independent Cinema office vintage film on “Rural Life in Old Britain”. All welcome but a charge on the evening for non- members of £3. Refreshments available.

NOVEMBER 17: Christmas Fair at Holy Trinity Church, in Godson Street, 10am to 2pm. Santa’s Grotto, Christmas draw, tombola, café and various stalls. Proceeds to church funds.

NOVEMBER 21: Saddleworth Museum, High Street, Uppermill, 7.15pm, Saddleworth Historical Society runs an illustrated presentation by Christine Widdall entitled "A Victorian Society: Oldham Photographic Society - the first 150 Years." All welcome. Society members free but a charge on the evening to non-members of £3. Refreshments available.

NOVEMBER 24: Oldham Age UK Christmas Fayre, 11am to 4pm, at George Street Chapel, 58 George Street. Food and drinks, gift, craft and toy stalls, chocolate tombola, adopt a bear; £2 per children's craft including make a peg doll Christmas Fairy, decorate a gingerbread, festive stained glass window, peppermint cream making; meet Santa and get a present £2.

NOVEMBER 24: Christmas Fair at Moravian Church, Spring Garden Street, Royton, from 11am-1.30pm. Stalls include home bake, tombola, fancy goods, books and bottles. £1 admission includes entry to draw for luxury hamper. Homemade chicken soup and sandwiches available.

DECEMBER 2: Oldham Age UK Christmas Carol Concert, 3pm, at George Street Chapel, 58 George Street. Freshly cooked three course meal served in festively decorated chapel. Licensed bar will be open. DECEMBER 4: Oldham Age UK, Christmas Wreath Making, 7pm to 9pm at George Street Chapel, 58 George Street. Friendly and festive tutorial in the stunning surrounds of the grade II-listed chapel, including Christmassy refreshments. Licensed bar also open. £25 per person.

DECEMBER 11: Saddleworth Floral Art present a floral demonstration by Kate Russell of Spital, Wirral at Friezland Church Hall, Greenfield. Her title is Sparkle and Sprouts. All welcome, £6.
