FRIENDS of a much-loved community champion who passed away last year aged just 40 have raised £900 to put a commemorative bench in Stoneleigh Park, Derker.
The fundraisers raised the cash for the bench in memory of mother-of-three Sarah Limb.
Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams visited the park on Friday where she met friends and family of Sarah before cutting the ribbon.
In her lifetime, Sarah helped to raise thousands of pounds through the monthly Kit4Kids table-top sales at East Oldham Methodist Church,
Kit4Kids is a not-for-profit business which sees all cash going to good causes.
Sarah also arranges Christmas hampers to be distributed among families who needed them and helped organise fundraising appeals for causes.
A plaque on the bench reads: “In loving memory of Sarah Limb. Sarah lived for those she loved and those she loved will always remember and miss her.”
Kelly Jones, who organised the fundraising effort, said: “We had an event in the park and we also raised money on a Just Giving page. Sarah was so well-known and so popular we had no problem raising the cash in three months.”
