OLDHAM'S Big Bang bonfire party lit up the sky in spectacular style last Tuesday night.
Hundreds of people descended on Oldham Edge for the extravaganza which has become the ultimate free feast of fireworks and family fun in the borough.
Seven-year-old Alexanda Leadbeata was given the honour of pressing the button to get the firework display underway after being chosen from over 350 entrants in an competition staged by Oldham Council.
Double British firework champions, Fantastic Fireworks, co-ordinated the stunning pyrotechnics display which was choreographed to music.
A fire-breathing dragon and giant bat fought for supremacy in a show-stopping 'Battle of the Oldham Edge Beasts' and fire-throwing act Juggling Inferno provided the thrills and spills.
The large-scale council event is designed to offer residents the ultimate Bonfire Night enjoyment through a safe and affordable experience.
