THIS old stone pub in the centre of Delph village was extensively refurbished in January, 2015. It has a multi-roomed interior with tartan upholstery, old pictures, exposed beams and three wood-burning stoves, giving the pub a cosy country feel. There’s a small menu of home-cooked pub grub, available Friday to Sunday. Dogs and families are welcome. Regular beer is JW Lees Manchester Pale Ale.

THIS is a neat and attractive roadside pub in a pleasant area, according to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). There is one large room divided into several discrete areas and a side room used mainly for sports fans watching televised events. Horse brasses, plates and various interesting prints decorate the walls. There are two car parks, including one opposite. The pub has a reputation for serving good home-cooked food with home-made pies especially popular. Beer is JW Lees Bewer’s Dark, and JW Lees Bitter.

THIS pub is within the Failworth Pole Conservation Area and is an imposing detatched red-brick building sited in the true heart of the local community, opposite St John’s Church, after which it was named. The pub was originally the Three Crowns, dating back to 1758. The beer is Robinsons Trooper. Food is served seven days a week from noon until 4pm.

BASED across from the new town centre cinema complex, this ever popular town-centre free house is just 100 yards from the Oldham Central Metrolink tram stop. The pub has an excellent range of four to six rotating beers, mainly from local micros and LocAles but also featuring beers from further afar. Traditional cider/perry is permanently on sale. The fridges contain a good selection of Belgian and German bottled beers. Good value food is served weekdays until 6pm (5pm Friday) with pork pies and sandwiches at the weekend.
