A CHEF at a Failsworth Indian restaurant is the best in the North West – and that’s official.

Mohammed Miah, aged 59, who has been in charge at the Aman Indian restaurant in Oldham Road for the last 13 years, has bagged the region’s top chef at the Asian Curry Awards 2018.

Around 1,000 VIP guests attended a glittering gala dinner at the Grosvenor House in London to honour the winners of the eighth awards, organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).

The Awards of the nation’s only accolades dedicated to the entire spectrum of pan-Asian cuisines, rewarding the best curry restaurants and takeways.

Mohammed said: “I am delighted to have been voted the North West’s best curry chef. It is the reward for a lot of hard work.

“I love my work and working in the restaurant, which is our family business. "I have created a number of dishes of my own, including the Shashlik Korai Chicken Tikka, Honey Mango Delight and Nowabi Lamb. "I have enjoyed the process of making the restaurant a place for people from all walks of life, serving an array of fresh and healthy foods as well as some classical dishes - to make the restaurant a local favourite." Mohammed has invited Ashton and Failsworth MP Angela Rayner and Oldham West and Royton MP Jim McMahon to a special evening celebrating his success on January 20.
