DECEMBER 13: Christmas and seasonal plant sale at Alexandra Park Glasshouses, continuing on Friday and Monday, from 10am-3pm. A wide variety of seasonal plants, wreaths and planted containers will be on sale - cash only. For more information call 0161 770 4067.

DECEMBER 13: Maggie's Festive Evening with Soul Inspiration Choir, at 7pm, at the Norman Stoller Building in the grounds of Royal Oldham Hospital. Moving musical performances, mulled wine and festive nibbles. Tickets £10 from either the Maggie's centre, on 0161 989 0550 or email oldhamfundraising@maggiescentre.org.

DECEMBER 15: Sholver Community Centre Christmas Fair, 1-3pm. Peppa Pig and Minnie Mouse will be making an appearance plus a large range of stalls and refreshments.

DECEMBER 15: St Thomas' Church hall, Moorside. Messy Church crafts and Christingle preparation, 10am to noon. Face painting and stories, plus some decorating making and other crafts.

DECEMBER 16: Greenacres Congregational Church, Family Christmas Service, 10.45am; 3pm Christmas Carol Service. Refreshments served after each service. DECEMBER 16: St Thomas' Church, Moorside, Christingle Service in aid of the Children's Society, 3pm to 4pm. Children will receive Christingle oranges prepared at the previous day's Messy Church.

DECEMBER 18: Diggle Band Club, Traditional Christmas Concert by Diggle Band, 7.30pm, tickets £7, including supper, can be bought on the door or in advance from Diggle Band Club, Diggle Post Office or by calling 01457 873937.

DECEMBER 18: "It's not Rocket Science" Christmas Quiz at Springhead Liberal Club, 8.30pm, £3 per person including raffle and stand up bingo. On behalf of Dr Kershaws and Oldham Branch of the MS Society.

DECEMBER 23: Delph Methodist Church, no morning service, Carols by Candlelight, 6pm, led by Rev G Ridley, followed by coffee and mince pies. No morning service.

DECEMBER 23: St Thomas' Church, Moorside, 10.30am to 11.45am, Eucharist service includes the Nativity play performed by Sunday School children.
