FIREFIGHTERS from Hollins, Oldham and Mossley were called in to tackle a blaze which destroyed a loft at a house in Rochdale.
The Hollins crew were returning from a training exercise which involved colleagues from Rochdale when they got the call to Roch Valley Way where they found the roof of the terrace property well alight at 11.30am on Tuesday.
It's understood a fire started by builders in a fireplace in an adjoining property ignited wood in the chimney and burned through into the neighbouring loft.
Using six breathing apparatus and two hose reels the crews managed to stop the blaze spreading to the other adjoining property but Green Watch Manager Andrew Turner said it completely gutted the loft bedroom.
The homeowners discovered the fire when their electric tripped out and they went into the loft to investigate.
