OLHDAM Choral Society is embarking on a recruitment drive ahead of its forthcoming major concert.
The choir takes to the stage on Sunday, April 28, at the Royal Northern College of Music to perform Verdi’s Requiem, for which rehearsals start this month.
With more than 100 members, the society is one of the leading amateur choirs in the North West.
It has a reputation of performing high quality music with soloists of the highest calibre, accompanied by the acclaimed East Lancs Sinfonia and led by musical director Nigel Wilkinson more than 20 years.
The repertoire includes most of the major choral works by Bach, Elgar, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Karl Jenkins, Howard Goodall and many others.
The society organises about four concerts a year in Oldham, elsewhere in Manchester and further afield. In the autumn and spring the concerts are at the prestigious Royal Northern College of music.
Membership is open to anyone who wants to sing – it does not hold auditions. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at 7:20 pm in the main hall at the back of the first floor of Chadderton Town Hall, Middleton Road, Chadderton, OL9 6PP.
